MedicareAndTFL.com is an independent educational resource operated by Uncle Sam's Healthcare. We collect a small amount of anonymous usage data so we can understand what retired military beneficiaries are trying to learn and continually improve the lessons, glossary, FAQs, and planning tools on this site.
What we log
- Anonymous page views. Which pages were visited, the order, and whether the visit started from a search engine, AI assistant, social link, or directly.
- Anonymous AI chat questions. The question text you type into the on-page assistant, with personal information automatically redacted before storage (see below).
- Anonymous planning-tool usage. Which tools were opened, started, and completed (no answers you typed into a calculator).
- Anonymous internal searches. What people search for inside the site.
What we never log
We do not collect or store names, email addresses, phone numbers, Social Security numbers, Medicare or DoD ID numbers, home addresses, health-record details, IP addresses, or device fingerprints. If a piece of personal information accidentally appears in a chat question, our server automatically removes it before the question is stored.
How sessions work
We generate a short random identifier in your browser tab so we can tell that, for example, the same visit looked at the IRMAA Calculator and then the Coverage Decision Guide. That identifier lives only in your browser tab and disappears when you close it. It is not tied to your identity in any way.
Why we do this
Aggregate trends — "this month 74 veterans asked about hearing aids" — drive what we build next. We use these signals to write new lessons, fix knowledge gaps, and prioritize the content that actually helps retired military families navigate the transition from TRICARE to Medicare and TRICARE For Life. We do not use this data to profile individual visitors and we do not sell it.
How long we keep it
Anonymous analytics records (page views, chat questions, planning-tool events, and internal searches) are retained for no longer than 180 days and then deleted. Only aggregated monthly reports — counts and topic summaries with no individual records — persist beyond that window. If you would like a topic or sample question removed sooner, email us at the address below and we will purge it on request.
